Diskominfo: Hundreds of 4G BTS built in West Papua

The West Papua Office of Communication, Information, Encryption and Statistics (Diskominfo) confirmed that the construction of the fourth generation (4G) Base Transceiver Station (BTS) transmitter is currently under construction by the operator.
 
Head of West Papua Diskominfo Frans Istia in Manokwari, Wednesday, said that there are hundreds of transmitters that will be built by network operators in the category of projects that are not disadvantaged, frontier and outermost (3T) areas.

"There are 820 for the non-3T including Kaimana Regency, Manokwari Regency, South Manokwari Regency, Fak-fak Regency and Arfak Mountains Regency," said Frans.
 
He revealed that there are only two operators that can build transmitters, namely Telkomsel and XL Axiata.
 
On the other hand, he said that there was also the construction of transmitters that were included in the BAKTI program in the 3T area which included Sorong Regency, Tambrauw Regency, South Sorong Regency, Raja Ampat Regency and Maybrat Regency.
 
Frans said, the construction of transmitters that are included in the BAKTI program but are intended for the area of the transmitter development program by operators can be carried out but must wait for the completion of the ongoing operator transmitter project.
 
"We will wait first because the difficulty level of the operator program for the non-3T category is a bit heavy, such as land status issues," he said.
 
Frans hopes that there will be strong support from the local government regarding the problems that arise during the construction of BTS transmitters. If he doesn't get help, Frans is worried that there will be more obstacles for the non-3T project, which has been running since 2021.

He said, so far the district government that is involved in the project for the regional transmitter instead of 3T has responded very well.
