The allocation of village funds in Biak Numfor Regency, Papua in the 2020 budget year has increased to Rp209.6 billion compared to last year's revenue of Rp202 billion. The allocation increased by around Rp. 7 billion compared to this year, which amounted to Rp. 220 billion.

"From the data we obtained in 2020 there are about 15 villages that have received village funds in the amount of Rp1 billion," said Acting Head of the Biak Village Community Empowerment Office, Setyo Budi MAP, in Biak on Sunday.

He said the mechanism for the use of funds would refer to the Regulation of the Minister of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration No. 11 of 2019 concerning the priority of using village funds by 2020.

In Article 5 of the regulation, according to Setyo, the use of village funds is prioritized to finance village development programs and activities and community empowerment. The priority scale should be of maximum benefit to the village community, in the form of improving the quality of life, improving welfare, poverty alleviation and improving public services.

Setyo Budi said, the priority of using the Village Fund as referred to in paragraph (1) must provide maximum benefits to the village community in the form of, improving the quality of life, improving welfare, reducing poverty and increasing public services.

"The DPMK Biak Numfor ranks will endeavor to complete the distribution of village funds in December, so until now the realization has reached above 80 percent," he said.

Based on data on the number of villages receiving village funds allocated from the Ministry of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration in 2019, there were 254 villages.

Whereas for the other three villages Sorido Village, Yafdas Village and Makuker Village were allocated through funds from the Biak Numfor Regency APBD because the name of the village had not been codified.
