UN DECISION IS ABSOLUTE!

UN DECISION IS ABSOLUTE!

The United Nations (UN) has rejected the Papua referendum plan, and has decided that Papua is part of Indonesia which cannot be contested.
The decision was conveyed by the Indonesian Ambassador / Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Dian Triansyah Djani in Geneva, Hasan Kleib.
.
The decision was made during a recent public debating of a potential member of the Human Rights Council in Geneva. In the event, Indonesia received a number of questions related to the Papua referendum from various parties.
.
The following are the results of the Indonesian Permanent Representative Meeting at the United Nations with the Secretary General of the United Nations.
1. On September 10, 2019, in New York, Indonesia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Dian Triansyah Djani met with the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres to discuss developments in the current situation in Papua, and the status of Papuan sovereignty from a UN perspective.
.
2. Meeting results, as follows:
a. The United Nations supports the Sovereignty and Integrity of Indonesia's territory and the issue of Sovereignty is not a question for the United Nations.
The final status of Papua in Indonesia is based on the possideti iuris, NY Agreement 1962, Act of Free Choice 1969, and UN GA resolution 2504 (XXIV) 1969.
b. The UN sees the outcome of the Government's development in the era of President Jokowi in the Papua and West Papua regions. However, it needs to be strengthened with symbolic things.
c. The UN understands the existence of separatist groups who are constantly making hoaxes and anarchist demonstrations and acts of violence. He said he reminded the police to remain restrained so as not to cause bad effects and to complicate the government.
d. Related to Vanuatu, his party realizes that it often raises the issue of Papua in several international agendas.
.
3. Seeing these conditions, it can be concluded that the United Nations continues to support Indonesian Sovereignty over Papua so as to close the referendum opportunity for KSP leaders and sympathizers.
However, the statement on the issue of sovereignty is not a question but also confirms that the UN will continue to pay attention to Papua in other issues such as welfare, poverty, human rights, health, education, etc.
