314 Days to PON 2020, Papua Can!

The Provincial Government of Papua and the Executive Board of XX National Sports Week (PB PON) together with 4 organizing clusters signed a memorandum of understanding on the distribution of sports branches and supporting arenas in the State Building, Jayapura City, Wednesday (11/12/2019).
.
The 4 PON organizers are Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency and Merauke Regency.
.
For Mimika Regency, the MoU was signed by the Regent Eltinus Omaleng. Jayapura Regency is represented by Regent Matius Awoitauw and Merauke Regency is signed by Deputy Regent of Sularso.
.
In addition to the 4 clusters, the signing of the MoU was also carried out with the Papua Regional Police, Kodam XVII / Cenderawasih, and the Synod. The agreement witnessed by the Deputy Chair of KONI Suwarno Center was a form of certainty that PON will continue to be carried out in Papua in 2020.
.
Suwarno said that he had assured all provinces in Indonesia that the implementation of PON XX would be successful in Papua. "We have told all provinces that there is no need to worry that the PON in Papua will remain," Suwarno said.
.
Suwarno also invited all parties in Papua to be part of the solution and not be part of the problem so that the PON can run successfully.
.
Meanwhile, Papua Governor Lukas Enembe said, although there were about 314 days left, the time was fairly short. Because, there is still much to be done in order to prepare for the Games.
.
For this reason, Lukas asked the parties involved to immediately complete their respective homework for the success of PON in Papua. He also hoped that all the venues in the 4 clusters could be completed in July 2020.
.
"This is a national event. I hope that all PON facilities must be completed by July 2020 so that we are ready to meet the challenges of implementation because many things must be prepared, such as accommodation, transportation, consumption, health, and others," Lukas said.
.
Lukas also hopes that the community can participate in the success of PON. Because, this event will certainly be a good momentum for the tourism sector and the economy.
.
"What we need to protect when the contingent returns can bring something memorable from Papua, because being the host is our honor and appreciation for Papua from the Republic of Indonesia," Lukas said.
