President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) alluded to the benefits of infrastructure built in Papua. He did not want anyone to doubt the benefits of infrastructure in Papua.

According to Jokowi, building this country really needs enthusiasm and courage. This country, said Jokowi, is a big country and it is not possible half measures to develop this. Therefore, he stressed, infrastructure is needed in the country.

"Don't let anyone say that the infrastructure cannot be eaten. Who says that the infrastructure is ordered to be eaten?" Jokowi said, making laughter of the congress participants.

Jokowi also mentioned infrastructure which he claimed was very useful in Nduga, Papua. The Wamena and Nduga regions that were blocked by the Central Mountains five years ago had no roads, and have now been built.

In fact, before there was development, the people there, said Jokowi, had to walk for four days and four nights to circle the mountains to get to Wamena.

"That is why I have ordered that the Wamena-Nduga passage be completed and completed. So that from Nduga and Wamena it is only about 4-6 hours by car. That is the importance of infrastructure," Jokowi said.

Jokowi told me when he visited Nduga five years ago. He claimed to be surprised because he did not see the population at all, even though the population was large, but the infrastructure was very minimal.

The President emphasized that this country is not only Jakarta and Java. The Papuan people, he said, also need logistics and development like citizens who live in Java.

Not only that, said Jokowi, he also placed HR as a priority because it would fight with other countries. "We want to increase, improve the quality of Indonesian human resources to compete with other countries. So there is a pre-employment card next year," he said.
