Apparently, Google is celebrating the anniversary of Lorentz National Park, located in Papua, Indonesia. Therefore, the design of Google Doodle on Google's search site looks natural-themed that describes the largest National Park in Southeast Asia.

On its official website, Google explains about Lorentz National Park. Historically, the name of the national park was based on a Dutch explorer named Hendrikus Albertus Lorentz who visited the area in 1909.

Then, by the Indonesian government, the area was made into the Lorentz National Park in 1997. The area was tightly protected by the World Wildlife Federation (WWF) and UNESCO, which has designated it a World Heritage Site. As a form of protection from logging, hunting, and pollution.

Lorentz National Park stretches around 24,864 square kilometers and is located right at the intersection of two colliding continental plates. There are many natural ecosystems there, including grasslands, marshes, ocean beaches, rainforest, and alpine mountains which are topped by rare tropical glaciers.

The park is also home to many animals, including tree kangaroos, tigers, anteater, many rare bird species such as the Pesquet parrot seen in Google Doodle images today. Not only that, Lorentz National Park is also home to at least seven ethnic groups of indigenous people, all of whom live according to tradition for thousands of years ago.
