The International Conference of Papuan Youth and Scholars, Friday morning (12/20/2019) took place in Los Angeles, California, United States. The international conference which was held for the first time took place at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel Los Angeles, attended by 350 Papuan students residing in America, Canada, the United Kingdom and the Philippines.

This activity was officially opened by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Wamenlu-RI) Mahendra Siregar accompanied by Deputy Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Jhon Wempi Wetipo.

In addition, representatives from Papua were also present including Papua Regional Secretary, Hery Dosinaen, DPR I Commission Member Yan P Mandenas, DPD RI member Yoris Raweyai, Paniai Regent, Melki Nawipa, and Los Angeles, Texas Consulate General , San Francisco, Houston, New York and the Head of the Improvement of Human Resources Competitiveness in the Papua Special Autonomy Bureau, Anthoni Mirin.

Chairman of the Papua United State Of America Student Association (IMAPA-USA), Michael Anis Labene in his report said the International Conference of Papua Youth and Scholars with the theme of the Golden Generation of Papua "Shine On" or the Golden Generation of Papua Shine.

"This conference is a vehicle and a big step for Papuan students and scholars to work together to develop Papua and the Indonesian nation," said Michael Anis Labene. According to Michael Labene, the estuary of the Conference is expected to produce synergies, ideas and concrete solutions for the future of Papua locally, nationally and internationally.
