Jokowi Issues Presidential Instruction to Accelerate Support of PON & Paralympic Organization in Papua

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) issued Presidential Instruction (Inpres) No. 1 of 2020 concerning the Acceleration of Support for the XX National Sports Week (PON) and XVI National Paralympic Year (PPN) 2020 in Papua Province.

The Presidential Instruction issued on January 17, 2020 was addressed to line ministries and institutions, as well as local governments in Bumi Cendrawasih in order to take steps in accordance with the duties, functions and authorities of each institution in a coordinated and integrated manner to accelerate support in organizing XX PON and Week XVI National Paralympics in Papua.

The instructions were addressed among others to the Minister of the Interior to facilitate policy support and facilitate synchronization and harmonization of regional planning and budgeting documents.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance is instructed to allocate the necessary budget in the preparation and implementation of the PON and Paralympic organization. It also provides budgeting technical facilitation and support needed by relevant ministries / institutions / regions / agencies.

The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing was instructed to build new infrastructure facilities supporting PON and Paralympic. Including the construction of the Telaga Ria-Khalkote-Dapur Papua road in Jayapura Regency and the improvement of the Merauke-Kuprik-Tanah Miring road.

The President also instructed the Minister of Agriculture to support and facilitate food supply. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy / Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, given instructions to facilitate and supervise the provision of professional experts at the opening and closing ceremonies (opening / closing).

Specifically for the Governor of the Province of Papua, obtaining instructions from the President to build new and / or maintenance and prepare sports infrastructure and facilities in the regencies / cities in Papua Province which will be the host in addition to sports infrastructure and facilities, sports palace, aquatics, hockey, cricket, and archery field in Jayapura Regency.
