The Papua Regional Police have named 13 people as suspects in the riots in Wamena City, Papua. Papua Regional Police Public Relations Chief Commissioner Ahmad Mustofa Kamal said that of the 13 people who were named suspects, only 10 people had been detained, while the three who were being pursued were provocateurs of the action.
"The three of them are categorized as provocateurs and allegedly involved in KNPB and ULMWP organizations," Kamal said.
The police also confiscated evidence such as 34 stones that were used to attack, a motorcycle, a four-wheeled vehicle, and video recordings that were being explored. The suspects were charged 160 KUHP, 170 KUHP and 187 KUHP.
It is feared that a follow-up action will take place, Head of the Public Information Section at the National Police Headquarters, Senior Commissioner Asep Adi Saputra, said thousands of TNI and Polri personnel were still in Papua to guarantee security and public order.
"There are 6000 personnel who are tasked with securing collateral, and because we suspect and detect that there are actions that will cause riots again," Asep said on 7 October 2019.
