Smuggling of 228 Illegal Liquor Bottles Successfully Thwarted TNI in Papua

Illegal alcohol smuggling was successfully foiled by RI-PNG Task Force personnel Yoif MR 411 / Pandawa.

Sos., M.Han., In a release quoted by Pikiran-Rakyat.com from the official website of the Indonesian Army, explained that the alcohol bottles will be smuggled to Papua using a taxi via the Trans Papua Merauke-Boven Digoel Poros Road.

Alcoholic bottles that are successfully secured are the result of routine checks conducted by personnel.

The security of this miracle bottle was not the first time, a few days earlier personnel also confiscated 1416 alcohol bottles that would be smuggled into Papua.

"Regarding the smuggling of alcohol, we are quite intensive and concerned in conducting the inspection. The results of confiscation of alcohol have been the umpteenth time we have gotten, our concern is that these drinks will be resold in the Papua region," Rizky said.

Rizky also added that he and his members would act decisively with regard to the circulation of alcohol and other illegal activities that would enter Papua.

"The circulation of alcohol can trigger a variety of criminal acts and other crimes, it is even feared could cause casualties if consumed in excessive amounts," he added.

Danpos Makadi Letda Inf Moch. Setyo Dwi Purnomo, S.T.Han explained that the first discovery began when two members suspected that luggage was carried by the taxi car.

The luggage is then inspected by personnel and found alcohol bottles ready to be smuggled.

"After checking it turned out that there was alcohol, which was admitted by the taxi driver as a safekeeping item from someone at Asiki, Boven Digoel, all of which we confiscated and secured for further processing," he said.

Now the successful alcoholic drinks consist of 192 bottles of 250 ml Robinson Whiskey and 36 bottles of 650 ml Robinson Whiskey with a total of 228 bottles. ***
