Telkom Papua Improves Services by Improving the Timika-Merauke Line Cable System

PT Telkom Witel Papua will immediately repair the Sulawesi Maluku fiber optic cable Papua Papua Cabel System (SMPCS) for the Sorong-Fakfak-Kaimana-Timika-Merauke segment.

General Manager of Telkom Witel Papua, Sugeng Widodo, told Antara in Jayapura on Saturday that the locations of Witel Papua affected were Timika and Merauke.

"As for the Jayapura region, it remains normal or is not affected by the improvements that will be carried out," he said.

According to Sugeng, if there is an activity that will provide a service impact to Telkom customers in Papua, then his party will surely immediately deliver or make a release to the media.

"Because Telkom and Telkomsel services in Jayapura were not affected, we did not deliver notice or release," he said.

He explained that it was hoped that the public especially in Jayapura would not panic over information circulating on social media.

Just to note, information circulated through leaflets posted on social media notifying that there will be improvements to the SMPCS from 4-8 January 2020 and 12-14 January 2020 for the Merauke and Kaimana areas where telephone use and SMS are not interrupted, but the data network will be disrupted .

In addition, indihome services will "off" from 5-8 January 2020 and "off" again on 12 January 2020 where indihome usage will return to normal on 13 January 2020.
