Unable to Face the Officials, KKB Runs to the Forest |
After two days ago an armed criminal group (KKB) attacked Brimob members in Kenyam, Nduga, they again attacked a group of PT Freeport Indonesia's employee busses on Monday morning. Luckily there were no casualties in the incident.
After the shooting, armed clashes broke out between Brimob members and the KKB. Clashes ended when the armed group fled and fled to the forest. Action to flee to the forest is a KKB strategy to avoid counter attacks from security forces.
23 cases of shooting by the Papua KKB have been identified. During 2019 the Papua Regional Police said, during 2019, there were 23 cases of shootings by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in a number of areas in Papua.
"The case occurred in the Puncak Jaya Regional Police, Jayawijaya Regional Police, Mimika Regional Police and Paniai Regional Police," said Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw.
Paulus revealed that in 2019 a new KKB group emerged which began to act to disturb the security situation. He mentioned the name Egianus Kogoya as a new group that emerged at the end of 2018 and increasingly carried out the action in 2019 until now.
In 2020, the Papua Regional Police ensure that they will continue to improve synergy and integration with stakeholders and leaders to create a conducive security situation. Although this is very difficult, because after every action, the KKB group always runs away to the forest.
