Papua's monthly export value in December 2019 reached 160.98 million US dollars, an increase of 166.61 percent compared to November 2019. Papua's monthly export value in November was recorded at 60.38 million US dollars.

Head of Statistics for Distribution of the Papua Statistics Agency, Bambang Wahyu Ponco Aji said the monthly value of oil and gas exports in December 2019 reached 14.969 million US dollars, while non-oil and gas monthly exports reached 160.96 million US dollars.

Gold, silver and copper concentrates processed from the Freeport mining area in Mimika Regency are still the main pillar of Papua's exports. "The largest [monthly] export value [in December 2019] comes from Amamapare Port [in Mimika Regency], which is valued at 154.64 million dollars of total Papuan exports," Bambang said in Jayapura, Wednesday (1/15/2020).

Papua has six main export destinations, namely Spain, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, India and China. The monthly export value of the six countries in December 2019 reached 156.72 million US dollars, an increase of 207.43 percent compared to the value in November 2019 (recorded 50.98 million US dollars).

"[On an annual basis], exports to the six main countries contributed 89.46 percent of Papua's total exports in January-December 2019," said Bambang. While monthly exports to other countries in December 2019 were recorded at 4.26 million US dollars. The monthly export value to other countries decreased by 54.72 percent compared to November 2019, which was valued at US $ 9.4 million.
