West Papua mobilizes ASN to clear Mansinam Island

West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan called on all regional apparatus organizations to mobilize the employees of the State Civil Apparatus to work to clean up Mansinam Island in Manokwari.

"All OPD (regional apparatus organizations) are required to mobilize their employees to Mansinam Island. We will do the cleaning up so that visitors to the anniversary of the Gospel Message will be comfortable," the Governor said in Manokwari, Friday.

The anniversary of the Gospel Preaching in Manokwari is annually commemorated on February 5 to commemorate the services of German missionaries Carl W Ottow and Johan G. Geisler for Papuans on Mansinam Island.

"Every five years the celebration will be held on a large scale. So preparations must be ripe, including the cleanliness of the island must be maintained," the Governor said referring to the 165th Anniversary of the Gospel Preaching Event.

The Governor hopes that the Gospel Message Anniversary will be a momentum for the citizens of the Province of Papua to strengthen harmony and tolerance between religions. "All of the ASNs are involved in community service, the Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists are all involved in community service," the governor said.

"In 2017 we are ranked first, 2018 dropped to second place and in 2019 we are back in first place in terms of tolerance and harmony among religions. This must be maintained and through this PI anniversary anniversary we must fertilize so that tolerance and harmony between religions in Papua West continues to intertwine, "he said.

He also explained that in addition to preparing funds to support the implementation of the Gospel Message Anniversary, the local government mobilized government employees to support the activity through community service activities.

"The guests who come later will not only come from neighboring districts, from Papua Province, even guests from other countries will also come. Therefore preparations must be well-done so that they are comfortable," he added.
