Government's Commitment to Accelerate Development of State Border in Raja Ampat

Assistant Deputy for the Management of National Border Territories of the National Agency for Border Management (BNPP) of the Republic of Indonesia, Drs. Edi Supriyanta M.Sc, during his visit to Raja Ampat district, reiterated his commitment to help accelerate development in the border region, particularly in the Ayau district and the Ayau Islands, becoming a priority of the central government.

This was stated in a coordination meeting with Raja Ampat Regional Secretary (Sekda), Dr. Yusup Salim, M.Si, together with related agencies and community members living in the border area.

Edi Supriyanta explained, his visit with the BNPP team in Raja Ampat was in the context of accelerating the development of the country's border areas, especially in the Ayau district and the Ayau Islands in the northern part of the Raja Ampat district which borders directly with the State of the Palau Islands.

"One of our goals to Raja Ampat is to establish acceleration of development policies at the country's borders and strengthen budget planning needs," said Drs. Edi Supriyanta M.Sc, in his direction at a coordination meeting with the Raja Ampat government, in the Wayag hall of the Raja Ampat regent's office, Thursday (13/2).

In addition, his party will also carry out identification / inventory of priority priority programs / activities for the development of the Lokpri-based border region as input for refining the Presidential Regulation Draft on the master plan for managing State borders and border areas in 2020-2024.

Meanwhile, the Raja Ampat regent was represented by the Regional Secretary, Dr. Yusup Salim, M.Sc, hopes that through a coordination meeting to accelerate the development of the Raja Ampat border area, especially in the Ayau and Ayau Kepulauan districts, it can produce concrete policies and programs for the development of the border region.

"The Ayau area and its surroundings are strategic areas and have great potential, especially in the field of marine fisheries and tourism," Yusup Salim explained.

According to him, if so far Natuna is often referred to with its rich fishing potential, the Raja Ampat district government also hopes that the Ayau region also needs special attention in the development of infrastructure and its human resources.
