School Bus Program for Waibhu Elementary School Children in Papua Indonesia

The Jayapura Regency Government immediately prepared a school bus to serve student shuttle services in a number of villages in the Waibhu District. The policy is motivated by the difficulties of students in getting a ride in public transportation when going to and after school.

"The distance between the school and the village (student house) is quite far. The head of the education office will coordinate to prepare a shuttle vehicle for students in Waibhu, "said Regent Mathius Awoitauw, Friday (2/28/2020).

These difficulties were directly complained by students to the Regent of Awoitauw, when he visited a number of schools in the Waibhu District. One of them is YPK Kanda Elementary School (SD).

"To get to school, they only rely on (left) (riding vehicles passing on the road). Elementary students should still be under the supervision of parents, "said Awoitauw Regent.

Awoitauw said that Leften is a story of the past. This condition should no longer be experienced by students at this time. "It's enough for us to go to the trouble of going to school with Leften."

The parents actually always hit by anxiety every day. They worry that their children will have bad incidents on their way to and from school.

"I'm worried because the road conditions are straight with vehicles that (often) go fast. There have been many victims (traffic accidents) along (along) Jalan Kanda, Yakonde to Borowai, "said Agustina Marweri, a resident of Yakonde.
