Supporting PON, Jayapura Manuri Tribe Presents Local Culinary

The Manuri family expressed their readiness to support the implementation of the XX National Sports Week (PON) in 2020. They will display local wisdom such as culinary to spoil the eyes and tongues of guests and athletes who come from outside Papua.

The Big Manuri Family supports the implementation of PON in Papua, which will be held on October 20 - November 2, 2020. The Manuri Tribe also asks all Papuans to be good hosts in implementing the PON.

Chief of Manuri Tribe, Soleman Manuri said that support in the implementation of PON would be carried out by introducing various culinary and handicrafts from the Manuri Tribe who came from Jayapura Regency.

"We will display culinary, souvenirs from the local wisdom of the Manuri tribe, so that they can be enjoyed by guests who come from outside Papua," he explained, Sunday (2/23).

According to him, the Manuri tribe will build cultural huts, a coffee shop where we will provide local foods such as papeda wrap, areca nut and other products.

Soleman added that the original culinary Manuri will be placed in a cultural hut which is equipped with sharing culinary specialties.

"Indigenous Papuans, don't just be spectators at the 4-yearly sporting event. All parties must succeed PON. Come on, let's cheer up the spirit of PON wherever they are," he said.

PON Papua will be implemented in 4 regions namely Jayapura, Merauke and Timika, and Jayapura City by competing 37 sports.
