Timika residents enthusiastically welcome Citilink's inaugural flight |
Citizens in Mimika Regency, Papua were very enthusiastic about opening the inaugural flight of the Citilink aircraft on the Denpasar-Timika route and vice versa starting Friday evening.
.
Mimika District Transportation Agency Head Yan Selamat Purba in Timika said on Friday that the addition of one more flight fleet to and from Mozes Kilangin Airport in Timika would greatly help meet the needs of the aviation service user community.
.
"We welcome the presence of the Citilink airline in Timika. So far, the Mimika Regency Government along with all related components are working extraordinary to be able to bring more airlines into Timika. Thus, automatically the price of airline tickets will be more affordable by the public," Purba said.
.
He hopes that the flight ticket prices for the Citilink Denpasar-Timika route and vice versa currently sold at around Rp2.2 million to Rp3 million can be maintained. "The main hope is that the price of airline tickets is stable, affordable by the public but not also detrimental to the operation of the airline itself," Purba said.
.
Head of Mozes Kilangin Timika Airport on the north side managed by PT AVCO, Subagyo Hadidjan said that PT Freeport Indonesia strongly supports the increasing number of airlines entering the Timika Airport so that more choices for local service users to travel to various destinations.
.
"We are very proud and appreciative because in Timika there is now an increase in aircraft fleet. This is certainly in line with the ideals of the Mimika community as well as the main program of Regent Eltinus Omaleng and Deputy Regent Johannes Rettob who want to bring more and more aircraft to Timika," said Subagyo .
.
In the past three months, he said, a number of airlines have opened flight routes to and from the Mozes Kilangin Timika Airport such as Batik Air and Wings Air from Lion Group, Trigana Air (serving the intra Papua route) and Citilink.
.
In addition, the Timika route is also still served by the Garuda Indonesia airline which operates two aircraft through the Jakarta-Denpasar-Timika and Jakarta-Makassar-Timika lines and the Sriwijaya Air airline.
