Food Security in Papua Safe During the Pandemic COVID-19

The Provincial Government of Papua said that the condition of food security in its area was safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Papua Province Agriculture and Food Agency Head Semuel Siriwa said this was evidenced by the availability of rice for the next three months, as well as local food.

"Rice stock is sufficient for the next three months, while local food is everywhere so it is basically safe," he said in Jayapura, Thursday (6/25).

According to Siriwa, however, his party invited all Papuan people to love local products more in the Cenderawasih Earth.

"These local products are anything, from rice, local food, sago, tubers, then all vegetable and fruit products," he said.

He explained that he urged the public not to be influenced by imported commodities such as fruits and others.
