Soldiers of the Indonesian-PNG Border Satgaspam called on residents in the border area to comply with health protocols during their worship activities in an effort to prevent transmission of the corona virus (COVID-19).
Eight Task Force personnel from Pos Kuler led by Sertu Diantoni Surbakti invited members of the Indonesian Protestant Church (GPI) Silo village of Kuler, Neukenjerai District, Merauke Regency, Province.
Dansatgas Yonif 125 / Si'mbisa Lt. Col. Inf Anjuanda Pardosi revealed, members of the Kuler post invited the members of the Indonesian Protestant Church (GPI) Silo to jointly make efforts to prevent and deal with COVID-19.
Before entering the church, all members of the congregation are directed to wash their hands first, then proceed with an examination of body temperature.
Dansatgas Lieutenant Colonel Anjuanda said, all residents must work together to make efforts to prevent and control COVID-19.
"No matter how small the roles and actions that we take will certainly be beneficial. This is done solely for our mutual benefit and good," he said.
Indonesian Protestant Church Pastor Silo Rev. Abigael W. Laritmas expressed his gratitude for the efforts made by the Task Force in the effort to implement health protocols.
"So that it provides a sense of security and comfort for members of the congregation in carrying out worship," he said.
The Head of Kuler Village, Maria Ndiken, expressed his gratitude to the TNI for the care of the Infantry Battalion Task Force 125 / Si'mbisa, especially Pos Kuler who participated in the prevention of COVID-19 in the church.
"This is the first time an examination of body temperature has been carried out on our parishioners before entering the church," Maria said.
