The Covid-19 Task Force Team Visits Five Epicenter Areas of Covid-19 Spread in Papua

The Papua Province Covid-19 Prevention and Handling Task Force visited five areas that are the epicenter (centers of the outbreak), namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Biak Regency, Keerom Regency, and Mimika Regency.

"These five areas are still spreading so there needs to be cooperation in handling and prevention," said Papua Regional Secretary, Muhammad Musa'ad, in Jayapura, Monday (10/8/2020).

The visit to Biak confirmed the construction of a referral hospital for handling Covid-19 which is a program from the center, whether it is complete with medical equipment or not. With the hope that later it can serve the Saereri region.

"The team will meet with the regent and those in charge of the construction (referral hospital) to ensure all of this. If it is finished, it can be operated immediately, ”he said.

Regarding the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, the team will meet with the task force in Biak, because the district which is nicknamed the City of Karang also has a fairly high case rate.

"The team will also socialize to the public about how to implement health protocols in their daily lives so that efforts to break the chain of spread (Corona) can be carried out well," he said.

“Covid-19 is real. For that, all parties must be really aware of this danger, so they must be introspective by adopting a healthy and clean lifestyle, "he continued.

Musa'ad invited all Papuan people to be disciplined, obey the principles, and follow health protocols so that they could avoid transmission of the corona.

"The point is that the community and local government are not alone, because the Papua Provincial Government is ready to help," he said.

Based on graphical data on the development of Covid-19 Papua issued by the Papua Province Covid-19 Prevention and Management Task Force, accumulated from March 17 to August 8, 2020, 3,151 positive patients and 1,268 treated, recovered 1,848 people, and 35 people died. .
