West Papua Police Distributes 200 Food Packages and Distributes Flags
Approaching the 75th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia which took place on August 17, 2020, the West Papua Police distributed 200 red and white flags, as well as social services at Hanghaow Village, Tanah Rubuh Manokwari District, West Papua.
"The West Papua Regional Police visited Hanghaow Village, Tanah Rubuh Manokwari District to distribute flags. This is in order to welcome Indonesia's 75th Independence Day," said West Papua Police Chief, Inspector General Pol Tornagogo Sihombing through the Head of Public Relations, AKBP Adam Erwindi, Thursday (13/8 / 2020).
He said, in order to welcome this Independence Day, the West Papua Police distributed flags to residents to install at home or on the streets.
"Not only distributing flags. There is social assistance in the form of distribution of 200 sacks of basic foodstuffs of rice, considering that currently in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic situation with the aim of being able to help residents of the village," he said.
In addition, Polwan from the Directorate of Binmas Polda West Papua taught the children in the village to read and write.
"The Teaching Police Program includes teaching children and providing trauma healing. This activity is led by Dirbinmas Kombes Pol Bagijo Hadi Kurnijanto accompanied by the Head of Public Relations of the West Papua Police, AKBP Adam Erwindi," he said.
He explained, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic like now, children are certainly bored because the teaching and learning program has not been effectively implemented.
"Therefore, the West Papua Police is here to entertain, teach and sing. With red and white nuances this will add to the spirit of nationalism for the children in Hanghow Village," he said.
The Head of Public Relations explained, the material given to children about how to love the Indonesian country, from an early age. Police personnel also invited children to learn to read and count while playing by coloring the provided pictures.
"In the future, our hope is that these children will be able to become the next generation of a reliable nation who can pride themselves or the Indonesian nation and state," he said.
