The Papuan People Support Otsus

The special autonomy in Papua will be extended in 2021. The Papuan people strongly support otsus, because this special program from the government has been proven to prosper the people in this land of paradise. There has been a lot of development in Papua thanks to special autonomy.

Otsus is a program that started in 2001 and is valid for 20 years. This program received a legal umbrella from Law number 21 of 2001 and was changed to Perpu no. 1 year 2008. All Papuan people are happy with the special autonomy because they receive assistance in the form of money from the central government. In addition, there is a guarantee of respect for human rights in Papua.

There will be special autonomy in Papua starting in 2021. This special autonomy extension is very much supported by the Papuan people. Because they enjoy the infrastructure built from the special autonomy fund. the central government has poured out trillions of rupiah for the welfare of the people on this paradise earth. So, there is no development gap between Java and Papua.

In the Papua Special Autonomy, not only money is given, but also special powers are given to the Papuan people. Among other things, all leaders (mayors, governors, etc.) must be held by indigenous Papuans. So the people there can lead their own area because they already know the character of the people and the culture.

Bani Tabuni, Head of the Papua Central Highlands Tribe, stated that Otsus is a solution to the welfare of the community as a form of state presence. In that sense, the government is trying to make the people of Papua prosperous and enjoy a more advanced life, by building a land of paradise. Papua is no longer a marginalized province.

All Papuan people welcome special autonomy because there is already clear evidence of the autonomy program. Many hospitals and health centers have been built in Papua. So people don't need to go far for treatment. Health workers are also deployed directly to the community to provide medicine and carry out examinations.

Infrastructure is also being built in Papua and West Papua Provinces. There is a Trans Papua road that stretches for 4,330 KM from Sorong to Merauke. People really enjoy this road facility, because it can save time and energy. They no longer need to cross the wilderness when traveling. It is even claimed that the road quality is almost the same as in Europe.

Other infrastructure development is also being carried out in Papua, with the existence of 3 new ports in Raja Ampat, namely in North Waigeo, Kofiau, and the tourist pier of Waisai City. This port can support tourism in Raja Ampat, because it is a place for international traveling. Tourists can also get there via Sentani International Airport which is very modern.

The community also supports otsus because there is easy access to education in Papua. Many schools were built with sufficient facilities and instructors. Students are also given scholarships, and can even study abroad. So there are no more children who drop out of school or are even illiterate because they have not received any education at all.

Chairman of the DPD PMT Papua Province Ali Kabiay stated that the special autonomy needs to be extended because development in all fields in the Papua region is still needed. Especially for the development of human resources, health and economy, welfare, and others. Otsus is a great program, so you shouldn't just stop it.

With the extension of Otsus, it is hoped that it can eradicate health problems in Papua such as malaria and prevent the transmission of corona. Unfinished infrastructure development in Papua will be completed. So there are no stalled projects.

The community strongly supports Otsus because in Otsus there has been a lot of progress in this paradise. Now there are trans Papua roads, hospitals, health centers, and other infrastructure for the advancement of Papua. Otsus will bring more progress in Papua.
