TPS in Papua Provide Disposable Gloves
The General Election Commission (KPU) of Papua Province prepares disposable gloves at polling stations (TPS) for the 2020 Pilkada elections. The goal is to comply with the Covid-19 health protocol.
"Whether it's a pandemic area or not yet, what is clear is that the health protocol must be implemented where disposable gloves are one of the prerequisites," said member of the KPU Papua Province, Division of Socialization, Voter Education, Community Participation and Human Resources, Adam Arisoi.
Just to note, in Papua Province there are 11 districts that hold simultaneous regional elections for 2020, namely Yahukimo, Keerom, Bintang Mountains, Mamberamo Raya, Merauke, Boven Digoel, Asmat, Supiori, Waropen, Yalimo and Nabire.
According to Adam, this must be done to break the chain of spreading Covid-19 in Papua Province. "As for officers at the TPS themselves, before the day of implementation they must undergo a rapid test so that they can be sure that they are in a safe condition," he said.
He explained that these officers would be at the forefront so that they must be in a non-reactive and negative condition in the implementation of safe voting. "We appeal to the people not to be afraid of a pandemic, because the KPU guarantees safety, so please use their voting rights," he said again.
He added that the voting rights guarantee that aspirations can be submitted once every five years so that they can be given to candidates who are deemed able to develop their regions.
