The Papua Regional Head Election is expected to be safe and conducive

The mapping carried out by the Papua Police on the implementation of the Regional Head Election (Pilkada) simultaneously on 9 December 2020 shows that there are five conflict-prone areas in Papua.

The five regions are Jayapura Regency, Keerom Regency, Mimika Regency, Intan Jaya Regency and Puncak Regency. From the results of the mapping, it is hoped that the vulnerability in Papua can be anticipated and suppressed.

"I am optimistic that the Papua Regional Police will be able to overcome this. Especially in strengthening the security of the simultaneous regional elections on December 9, 2020, such as in Boven Digoel Regency," said Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament, Azis Syamsuddin.

He added, with the addition of personnel, it is hoped that they will be able to anticipate the social security in the area after the Indonesian KPU cancels the participation of one of the candidate pairs.

"I heard the status of Boven Digoel on standby 1. Members are still on guard around the KPU office after previously supporting candidate pairs who were canceled by the Indonesian KPU. DPR hopes that an incident where one Brimob member is hit by an arrow will not happen again," he explained.

The politician from the Golkar Party invited all components living on the land and country of Papua to jointly create the Papua region as a zone of peace, without any more conflict and violence.

"To develop Papua as a zone of peace, it requires harmonious cooperation between the local government, the army and the police with people from various tribes," he said.

After entering this December, Azis hopes that the security situation in Papua will be much more conducive, without any more conflicts and violence.

"Papua is an inseparable part of the Republic of Indonesia. Let's build Papua together for the advancement of our children and grandchildren. Create peace on the Land of Papua," he said.
