Four venues for PON XX Papua are ready to be handed over to local governments




The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Human Settlements has completed the construction of four of the seven venues to support the implementation of the XX National Sports Week (PON) in Papua in 2021. The four venues that have been 100 percent completed and ready to be handed over to the Regional Government are Aquatic Venue Area, Istora Papua Bangkit Venue and Indoor and Outdoor Cricket Arena and Hockey Venue as mandated by Presidential Instruction No. 10/2017.

This Aquatic venue is equipped with international standard pool facilities. The venue, which was built at the cost of the 2018-2020 State Budget (MYC) of IDR 401 billion, has received certification or world recognition from the Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA) or the parent organization of the international swimming sports federation on 27 July 2020.

On August 17, 2020, to coincide with the 75th Indonesian Independence Day, Istora Papua Bangkit, which was built with a fund of IDR 257.5 billion, succeeded in recording the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI) for three categories at once.

Director of Strategic Infrastructure at the Directorate General of Human Settlements, Iwan Suprijanto, explained the three categories, namely first, for the longest spanning curved steel roof structure with dimensions of 90 meters. Second, the roof without joints and the widest conical bolts in the form of a dome covering an area of ​​7,300 square meters.

Third, the installation of the longest and largest textile duct diameter with an internal ring dimension of 477 meters, an outer ring diameter of 70 meters and an inner ring diameter of 56 meters.

The next venues that have been completed are the Indoor and Outdoor Cricket and Hockey Arena, which were built with a budget of IDR 277 billion. Arena Hockey Outdoor has bagged a certification from the Federation Internationale de Hockey or the International Hockey Federation (FIH).

Three other venues that are still under construction, namely the Paddle, Archery and Roller Skates Venue with a progress of 63.93 percent. The construction of this venue was carried out with a budget of Rp. 116.5 billion.

The four completed venues have now entered the maintenance period and are ready to be handed over to the Papua Provincial Government. Prior to the asset handover process, the PUPR Ministry had asked BPKP to carry out an audit to provide a fair and corrected value for these assets and provide recommendations to potential beneficiaries to prepare their management and maintenance budgeting, added Iwan.
