Seven pairs of PON mascots arrive in Jayapura

Acting Head of the Papua Sports and Youth Office, Alexander Kapisa said that currently 7 pairs or 14 Mascot XX Papua PON, Kangpo and Drawa have arrived in Jayapura.

Alex said his nickname, the seven pairs of PON XX Papua Mascots will later be displayed at venues that have been completed.

“We will install the XX PON mascot in the venues that have been built. The plan is in the main stadium Lukas Enembe, Aquatic, Istora, Shooting Indoor, Gor Cenderawasih, Hocky and Criket in Doyo, "said Alex to Cenderawasih Pos when contacted via his cell phone, Wednesday (20/1).

According to Alex, the 7 pairs of PON mascots were procured in 2020. So that in the future there are still several pairs of mascots who will arrive before the holding of the four-year sports event.

"Gradually it will arrive, while from the 2020 procurement activities there will be 7 pairs of mascots or 14 mascot statues. We plan to add more in 2021, said Alex.

He revealed that the PON mascot made in Jogjakarta was made from fiber as raw material. Later, said Alex, each venue will be decorated by a pair of PON mascots.

"Our target is that we will equip all venues with mascot installation as a symbol of readiness for the implementation of the XX PON in Papua. And also we will make a mascot statue for Peparnas XVI, "he concluded.

Just to know, the PON XX Papua mascot depicts a tree kangaroo named Kangpo, and a bird of paradise named Drawa.
