Kempupera Allocates Rp. 11.97 billion for house renovation in Papua
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (Kempupera) through the Directorate General of Housing has prepared a budget of Rp. 11.97 billion for the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) program or house renovation in Papua Province.
"We will distribute the BSPS program to people whose houses are unfit for habitation. The implementation is evenly distributed in various provinces in Indonesia, from Sabang to Merauke," said Director General of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR, Khalawi Abdul Hamid in a press release in Jakarta.
In 2021, the BSPS Program or better known as house renovation, in phase I will target around 414 units of unfit for habitation (RTLH) in Papua Province.
According to Khalawi, the BSPS Program is a government effort to independently improve the quality of people's houses that are unfit for habitation.
However, he continued, the government provides stimulants so that they have a spirit of mutual cooperation to build their houses so that they can be more livable, healthy and comfortable.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Papua I Region Housing Provision Implementation Agency (P2P), Faisal Soedarno in Jayapura, stated that the BSPS Program in Papua Province will be implemented in five districts.
Kempupera, he said, will also involve the surrounding community as workers to carry out the house renovation program in the field.
"Through this program, the Kempupera hopes that the Papuan people can live in habitable housing as well as become a driving force for the economic turnaround in the local area," he said.
Based on data from the Papua Regional Center for P2P I, added Faisal, the Directorate General of Housing of Kempupera has issued a Decree (SK) for the Phase I BSPS Program of Papua Province, namely getting a quota of 414 housing units. The implementation will be carried out in Jayapura Regency (16 units), Keerom Regency (99 units), Jayawijaya Regency (140 units), Lany Jaya Regency (94 units) and Yapen Islands Regency (65 units).
In order to see the readiness of the community in the field and potential beneficiaries, the Directorate General of Kempupera Housing through the Papua Regional Housing Provision Agency I The Papua Province Housing Provision Work Unit has also monitored and evaluated the implementation process of the BSPS program.
He stated that the community as beneficiaries of assistance was also required to play an active role in every implementation process, both administrative and technical.
"We will also deploy field facilitators to assist the community to implement the BSPS Program in the field," he explained.
