New Mechanisms, BOS Papua Funds Increase Up to 125 Percent

 

Papua Province experienced a significant increase as the recipient region of the 2021 School Operational Assistance (BOS) fund allocation to more than 100 percent.
Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) Nadiem Makarim revealed that the increase in BOS funds in Papua was in line with the new mechanism for calculating the distribution of the distribution of these funds to each school.

"In the Papua region, the increase in BOS funds has reached more than 100 percent," said Nadiem.

He explained that the new mechanism for distributing BOS 2021 funds is measured based on the cost of living index in each region.

Therefore, apart from Papua, the increase generally occurred in several outer areas or eastern regions, such as Maluku and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

"The best news for many regions, especially those in the outermost and underdeveloped regions of Indonesia, is that the BOS cost unit is no longer uniform. The BOS cost unit varies," said Nadiem.

For Papua itself, continued Nadiem, the increase in BOS funds varied from 117 to 125 percent. Students of SD YPPK Sanepa, Intan Jaya Regency, Papua, for example, will receive BOS compensation of up to 1.9 million with an increase of 117 percent. Or, SMPN 1 Sugapa has an increase of 125 percent.

Then at SD Inpres Tanah Merah, Timor Tengah Selatan Regency, East Nusa Tenggara in 2021 it will receive 940 thousand or an increase of 5-6 percent.

This distribution mechanism is different from the BOS distribution distribution mechanism in 2019, when all recipient students were beaten evenly with a compensation value of IDR 900 thousand.

"Imagine, before we did not take the factor that to build something in the region could be one and a half times more expensive than other regions, and we did not follow this factor," he said.

The Ministry of Education and Culture has allocated a budget of Rp. 52.5 trillion for BOS funds 2021. This amount will be channeled to a total of 216 thousand education units directly through school accounts.
