OJK: PON Papua triggers the expansion of the tourism sector

The Head of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for Papua and West Papua Provinces, Adolf Fictor Tunggul Simanjuntak, said that the implementation of the XX / 2021 National Sports Week (PON) could trigger the tourism sector to develop. Apart from tourism, PON can also make the culinary business grow up too.

"The micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) sector also has the potential to grow with this PON," said Adolf Fictor Tunggul Simanjuntak, in Jayapura, Tuesday (13/4/2021).

According to Adolf, the tourism sector that will be most visible to grow is the travel business.

"For example, the team that joins the PON group will use the time to enjoy local tourist attractions so that travel is predicted to start growing," he said.

Therefore, OJK also continues to encourage banks in Bumi Cenderawasih to support economic growth.

He added that the provision of credit is also one of the factors driving economic growth in the easternmost region of Indonesia, both during the PON and during the Covid-19 pandemic.
