Papuan Community Leaders Support Special Autonomy to be continued
Community leaders consisting of traditional leaders, religious leaders and youth leaders in Papua provided support for the extension of the Special Autonomy (Otsus) Law for Papua and West Papua Provinces.
One of the traditional figures who is also Ondoafi Yoka, Titus Mebri said that, Otsus must continue, but the presence of Otsus must be right on target to the people in Papua.
“Otsus must not stop, but it must continue or be continued for the benefit of indigenous Papuans. We, from 14 villages in Jayapura City, support Otsus, it must be continued, "he told reporters during a press conference in Abepura, Friday (23/4).
Mebri conveyed that Otsus would still be continued, but law enforcement must be implemented, so that those who abuse Otsus can be prosecuted.
Likewise, representing a religious leader in Papua, Pdt. Yohanes Wenda said that the purpose of the presence of Otsus was for the welfare of the people in Papua. Therefore, the presence of Otsus must have an impact on the people in Papua. "If Otsus is to be continued, then it must uphold the rule of law, so that anyone who abuses Otsus must still be prosecuted. So that the presence of Otsus is truly felt by the people in Papua, "he said.
In the same place, the Central Mountain Community Control Leader in Jayapura, Sem Kogoya, S.H said that all people know about the value of Otsus. Therefore, the presence of Otsus must be enjoyed by the people in Papua.
"The goal of Otsus is clear, where the Papuan people must be prosperous first. Therefore, the presence of Otsus must really prosper the people in Papua, "he said.
Meanwhile, Representing Youth Leaders, as well as Chairperson of the Trikora Youth of Papua Province, Ali Kabiay explained that Otsus must continue to run, so as to accelerate the acceleration of development in Papua.
Kabiay added that the presence of Otsus in Papua is to protect four important areas, namely education, health, infrastructure and the people's economy. Therefore, the presence of Otsus must be used properly and correctly for the welfare of the people in Papua.
