West Papua encourages the fulfillment of the training facilities for the XX PON athletes
The Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of West Papua Province continues to boost the fulfillment of training facilities and infrastructure for athletes from 26 sports that are prepared for the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON), October 2-15.
The Head of West Papua KONI Facilities and Infrastructure, Andrew Valentino Tirony in Manokwari, Wednesday, said that the realization of training facilities and infrastructure for athletes in the province had reached 80 percent in the first quarter of 2021.
"Since early January, the fulfillment of athletes' training facilities and infrastructure has reached 80 percent or for about 20 sports," he said.
For the other six sports, he said, the provision of training facilities will be realized after the Idul Fitri 1442 Hijriah. The restriction on transportation access, which was in effect from May 6-17, became an obstacle to the procurement of training facilities for the remaining six sports.
Andrew Valentino Tirony added that the fulfillment of the training facilities and infrastructure is tailored to the needs of each sport, and the specifications of the facilities are also adjusted to the standards that will be used in the XX PON event.
"Of course, from maximum training with complete facilities according to standards, it will be the basis for each sport to mature its athletes before competing," he added.
The facilities and infrastructure that are ready, he continued, are immediately distributed to the training center (TC) of each sport.
The 26 sports that are ready to go to PON Papua are badminton, chess, rowing, judo, karate, football, softball, tennis, boxing, diving, pencak silat, roller skating, kempo, shooting, billiards, loadinghay, volleyball. boys and girls indoor, sand volleyball, sailing and parachuting.
