Shoot the Builders, OPM Terrorist Group Kills Civilians Again

The terror of killing civilians by the OPM Terrorist Group has occurred again. This time targeting a construction worker named Abel Halenti (30), who was shot dead by the terrorist group in Eromaga Village, Omukia District, Puncak, on Thursday (3/6/2021).

The Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Pol Mathius D Fakhiri confirmed the shooting. “The victim Abel Halenti (30), a building employee in Eromaga Village. The person concerned died," he explained.

The shooting began when the victim and his colleague Muhamad Alif left the Employee Camp at the Shower Complex of Kibogolome Village, Ilaga District, to transport pigs to Oronggabak Village, Omukia District, at around 12.30 WIT.

When he was about to return to the camp with his colleagues, the victim was held at gunpoint by the OPM terrorist group carrying one long barrel and one short barrel, then shot to death on the spot. Meanwhile, the victim's colleague managed to escape by driving an official car belonging to the Puncak Regional Government, a double cabin pickup, which was also shot by the OPM terrorist group and hit the car door. Then the victim's colleague immediately reported the incident to the Ilaga Police Headquarters.

After receiving the report, the joint military and police officers led by the Puncak Police Chief went straight to the crime scene (TKP) at 14.00 WIT. When they arrived at the scene, the TNI-Polri personnel were immediately attacked by the OPM terrorist group.

Gunfire ensued for about 15 minutes. Until finally the combined TNI/Polri personnel managed to evacuate the victims to the Ilaga Health Center.
Kapen Kogabwilhan III, Colonel CZI IGN Suriastawa when contacted by telephone said that his party had received a report about the incident. "Yes, we have received the report," he said. Thursday (3/6) afternoon.

According to Suriastawa, the discriminant attacks carried out by the OPM terrorist group against civilians are the hallmarks of terrorists.

"That's the OPM terrorist, who has no conscience, his work is only to threaten by scaring the people, seizing people's property, burning people's houses, raping and killing civilians and destroying vital objects that are desperately needed by the Papuan people," said Suriastawa.

According to Suriastawa, what the OPM terrorist group has done is shameful and should not be supported, let alone get sympathy. "The Papuan people and the international community are well aware of the actions of this OPM terrorist, so it is not easy to be instigated by hoaxes and persuasion by OPM terrorists, there are even some tribal/community heads who openly oppose and expel even OPM terrorists from their regions," he said.

Suriastawa emphasized that the government through the joint TNI-Polri apparatus would always act decisively against any violations of the law that occurred in Indonesian territory.
