Papuan Police Trials Odd-Even Traffic Engineering Next Week

Traffic engineering in the form of an odd-even policy that will begin on Monday (16/8/2021). The odd-even system engineering is planned to be carried out over the next four weeks.

This is intended to anticipate a surge in community mobility during the XX National Sports Week (PON) and XVI National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) which will take place from October to November.

“This odd-even engineering will be carried out for the next four weeks. We (Papua Regional Police) will coordinate with the regional government to start this odd-even traffic trial," said the Papuan Police Chief, Inspector General of Police. Mathius D. Fakhiri, Friday (13/8/2021).

In order to see firsthand the odd-even traffic test, the former Head of the Papua Police Mobile Brigade Headquarters will directly inspect the road sections that will be implemented in this engineering system, including alternative roads.

"When we have the match schedule, we will arrange the match at the same time so that there is no traffic jam. We prioritize the mobility of athletes who will go to the venue," he added.

Although the mobility of athletes is a priority, the Kapolda emphasized that the odd-even traffic system does not sacrifice community activities. Therefore, this engineering was carried out in order to be used as an evaluation material for the Papua Regional Police.

In addition, the Kapolda will also continue to coordinate with local governments, PB PON, Sub PB PON, and KONI Papua to help resolve land disputes that are still a problem by forming a Law Enforcement Task Force (Satgas Gakkum).

"Hopefully there will be a solution to this problem (land dispute) so that during the implementation of PON XX and Peparnas XVI later it will not be disturbed by the case of impoverishment," he concluded.
