Papuans Asked to Beware of Provocations of Persecution Incidents in Merauke




The former Governor of Papua, Freddy Numberi, asked residents in Papua to be aware of provocations due to incidents of persecution in Merauke Regency. He hopes conditions in the area remain conducive.

"Don't want to be provoked because of this incident," said Numberi, who was also the former Minister of Transportation in the era of President SBY, Friday (30/7/2021).

According to him, this incident is very moving because the victim is a person with a disability. He also asked TNI soldiers to become protectors and protectors of the community. But he believes this case has been investigated legally.

"The TNI commander has handled the issue directly and the person will definitely be punished," he said.

He hoped that the people on Earth of Cenderawasih could still maintain a conducive atmosphere and not be provoked by provocations that could damage the security and order situation.

In line with that, the Chair of the MPR Communications and Aspirations Forum for Papua, Yorrys Raweyai, hopes that this event will not become a wild issue and develop out of context.

The community needs to keep the area conducive. Although he admitted that he was concerned about the incident that occurred because of the carelessness of the two military personnel.
