TNI-Polri Shoot Dead Police Armed Robbers in Papua

The TNI Joint Team shot and killed one of the alleged perpetrators of the police firearms robbery on Tuesday (3/8/2021).

The seizure of eight police weapons took place at the Kulirik Police Post, Puncak Jaya Regency on January 4, 2014.

Papua Police spokesman Ahmad Mustofa Kamal said the suspect who was shot dead was named Kopengga Enumbi. The shooting took place in Puncak Smile Village, Irimuli District, Puncak Jaya Regency.

Ahmad Mustafa said that the TNI-Polri were forced to shoot Enumbi because they resisted the officers when they were about to be arrested. Mustafa said Kopengga Enumbi had been on the People's Wanted List (DPO) seven years ago.

"Law enforcement has been carried out against one member of an armed criminal group on behalf of Kopengga Enumbi. The person concerned is the Puncak Jaya Police DPO, cases of theft and violence. The seizure of eight weapons from the Kulirik Police Post," said Ahmad Mustofa Kamal, Thursday (5/8/2021). ).

Ahmad Mustofa Kamal said Kopengga Enumbi was a member of the armed criminal group (KKB) in the Yambi area, Puncak Jaya. This group is led by Lekagak Telenggen.

According to Mustofa Kamal, so far Kopenggan Enumbi has been tasked with finding and supplying logistics to KKB Yambi.

He explained that when he attacked the Kulirik Police Post seven years ago, Kopengga Enumbi carried out his actions with about 20 other people. At that time only two police officers were at the post.

Two police officers could not put up a fight, and escaped through the back door.

Kopenggan and his colleagues used this opportunity to take away eight firearms from Pospol.
