Papuan PON Gold Medal Winners Given IDR 1 Billion Bonus

The Governor of Papua Province, Lukas Enembe explained that athletes who achieve achievements in the 2021 PON XX Papua which will take place from 2-15 will be given bonuses.

For those who win the gold medal, they will be given a bonus of IDR 1 billion, team gold of IDR 650 million, silver of IDR 500 million, silver for each person of IDR 325 million, bronze for each person of IDR 250.5 million, and bronze for IDR 162.5 million.

“We realize that every sweat that you [athletes] shed is for the pride of Papua. Therefore, it is my obligation as the Governor of Papua, to appreciate each of your struggles," said Governor Enembe on the sidelines of the release of the core Papuan contingent at the Mandala Jayapura Stadium, Thursday (9/9/2021) as reported by ceposonline.com.

In addition to achievement athletes, the Governor will also prepare a bonus for non-medal athletes worth Rp. 10 million.

The implementation of PON XX will be held in 4 clusters, namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency and Merauke Regency. While the entry by name stage has been completed on August 1, 2021.

All contingents from each province have registered athletes and officials. The total number of registered athletes is 6,496 people, while the official is 50 percent of that number or 3,300 people.

Jayapura City: Being the location of 15 sports with 22 discipline numbers.

Jayapura Regency: Hosted 14 sports and 21 disciplines.

Mimika Regency: Competed in 9 sports and 12 disciplines.

Merauke Regency: Competing in 6 sports with 6 sports disciplines.

The division of sports venues per cluster covers Mimika Regency, namely Skydiving, Aeromodeling, Kite Flying, Athletics, Basketball, Billiards, Rock Climbing, Futsal, Handball, Judo, and Tarung Derajat.

Merauke Regency Cluster, namely Motorized, Chess, Wushu, Fencing, and Women's Soccer.

Jayapura City Cluster, namely Open Water Swimming, Weightlifting, Weight Lifting, Bodybuilding, Softball, Indoor Volleyball, Sand Volleyball, Canoeing, Rowing, Traditional Boat Race, Sailing, Taekwondo, Karate, Pencak Silat, Sea Diving, Sepak Takraw, Roller Skating , Women's Football, Tennis, Badminton and Boxing.

Then the Jayapura Regency cluster, namely Hanging, Paragliding, Beautiful Jumping, Swimming, Artistic Swimming, Water Polo, Outdoor-Indoor Hockey, Baseball and Softball, Aerobic Gymnastics, Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Muaythai, Swimming Gymnastics, Kempo, Rugby 7'S, Shooting , Cricket, Football and Archery.

The Papuan contingent itself will field 921 of its best athletes. Governor Enembe confirmed that this PON will improve the ranking of the 2016 West Java PON XIX.
