Trauma, health workers of KKB victims in Kiwirok ask to be returned to their hometown

A number of health workers (nakes) victims of violence by the armed criminal group (KKB) in Kiwirok District, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua some time ago asked to be sent back to their hometowns.

The health workers come from a number of areas, including East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and Tanah Toraja, South Sulawesi.

"We have been in Jayapura city for almost a month under the protection of Komnas HAM, waiting for confirmation of assistance to return to our hometown, wanting to meet with relatives and to reduce trauma," said the health workers of KKB victims, Moa and Ama, at the Komnas HAM Papua office in Jayapura, quoted by Antara. from Antara, Monday (18/10/2021).

Moa said that a number of health workers who survived the KKB violence were still waiting for government assistance to help return them to their hometowns.

The Head of Sub-Division of the Community Complaints Service of Komnas HAM Papua, Melchior S. Weruin, said that for about a month Komnas HAM representatives of Papua have continued to provide assistance and protection to health workers who were victims of KKB violence in Kiwirok.

Melchior admitted that the nine health workers who survived the KKB were still in Jayapura waiting for the assistance from the Gunung Bintang Regency Government and related parties to help them return to their hometown.

"Komnas HAM representatives from Papua have contacted the Gunung Bintang Regency Government and the LPSK agency to help facilitate the return of health workers," said Melchior.

The nine health workers who are still receiving assistance from Komnas HAM Papua are known to be three people from NTT, three people from Tanah Toraja, one person from Java, one person from Arso and one person from Putali, Jayapura Regency.

Previously, it was reported that KKB had attacked in Kiwirok District, Papua, killing members of the TNI, Brimob, and health workers last September.

KKB also burned a number of public facilities in the Kiwirok District, from schools, banks, to health centers.
