A Papuan son who graduated from Petrotekno was recruited by a Brunei company
A total of 19 alumni of the Bintuni Bay Industrial and Oil and Gas Engineering Training Center (P2TIM), West Papua left for Brunei Darussalam for a work contract with Massutera Engineering SDN Bhd.
Director of Petrotekno Hendra Pribadi in a press release received by ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday said this is proof that the training provided so far has paid off. Most of them are Orang Asli Papua (OAP).
According to him, OAP only needs to have the opportunity to be able to compete at various levels, including internationally.
"This is proof that P2TIM graduates have quality that is accepted by the international community. Of course we hope that there will be more other companies in Indonesia to provide opportunities for our students. Currently, companies in our own country are still unsure about their quality," he said. Hendra.
Petrotekno is a company that works with the Teluk Bintuni Regency Government to manage P2TIM. P2TIM is a Regional Integrated Service Unit (UPTD) under the Department of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives, Teluk Bintuni Regency.
The training center, which prioritizes human resource development programs, is a collaborative program between the Teluk Bintuni Regency Government and Petrotekno.
Petrotekno designs and operates the training center. So far, eight batches have passed or about 800 students. The graduates obtained national certification from BNSP and international certification from ECITB.
The government of Teluk Bintuni Regency and West Papua Province are committed to catching up with the development of human resources in West Papua by presenting P2TIM.
"The investment issued by the local government to present a human resource development program in Teluk Bintuni Regency that is accredited nationally or internationally, is not small. Today we are witnessing tangible evidence of the results of this investment where Papuans can participate in building the world. In this way, Papuans can get better welfare over time," he continued.
The contracted P2TIM alumni have pipe fitter expertise, which is one of the six disciplines in P2TIM.
"Our preparation to work in Brunei is mental and physical. How can any company accept that we are sick. We have been tested for the last four months waiting for this recruitment process. Praise God because what we have been waiting for can come true," said William Franklin Wamburie , one of the alumni of P2TIM.
Meanwhile, another alumni, Arnol Onan C. Wanma said that he never dreamed of working abroad.
"Let's not even dream of going abroad, we never put our hopes out of Papua. But after graduating from P2TIM, it is a new motivation and hope for us," said Arnol.
Moh. Yusuf Amin, who was born in Papua, explained that in the country of Petro Dollar, they will be paid in the range of 30 - 45 Brunei dollars per day. This is equivalent to Rp. 300 thousand to Rp. 450 thousand per day.
Now they are in Jakarta for the next trip to Brunei.
