92 Papuan KKB Terror Actions Take 34 Lives Throughout 2021
The Papuan Regional Police recorded 34 lives have been taken by the Armed Criminal Group in terrorist shootings that occurred throughout 2021.
Of the total death toll, 19 were civilians, while the other 15 were TNI-Polri security forces. This was revealed by the Papuan Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Mathius D Fakhiri in his year-end reflection in Jayapura City, Thursday, December 23, 2021.
Fakhiri explained that the KKB shootings took place in 5 jurisdictions of the Papua Regional Police with a total of 92 actions. The five areas in question include, Nduga, Intan Jaya, Puncak, Bintang Mountains and Yahukimo.
"For the victims of the KKB action, 11 people died from the TNI and 19 people were injured, 4 members of the National Police died and 3 were injured, while 19 people died from the community and 11 others were injured," explained Fakhiri.
The Papuan Police also noted that 12 people from the Armed Criminal Group were killed in a gun battle. “There are 12 victims of KKB. On the other hand, there are 27 KKB groups who have declared themselves to return to the lap of the Republic of Indonesia in the Yapen Islands Police jurisdiction," said Fakhiri.
Throughout 2021, said Fakhiri, the Papuan Police have carried out 13 centralized and regional police operations including Amole Operations I and II 2021, Operation Bina Kusuma 2021, Operation Safety Matoa.
Then, he continued, Operation Nemangkawi, Operation Deraku Cartenz, Operation Obedient Cartenz, Operation Hawa Cartenz, Operation Aman Nusa I and II, Operation Ketupat, Operation Zebra Cartenz and Operation Candle Cartenz 2021.
Regarding the achievements of the Papua Regional Police, Fakhiri emphasized that he would continue to improve synergy and integration with stakeholders and leaders in order to create a conducive security and security situation.
