1,200 Biak Numfor dancers take part in the Wor-Yospan dance parade



A total of 1,200 dancers from various villages and districts throughout Biak Numfor Regency, Papua participated in the Wor-Yosim Pancar (Yospan) dance cultural arts parade, Friday.

The Wor-Yospan dance parade in Biak was released by the Regent of Biak, Herry Ario Naap, along with a member of the Papuan People's Assembly, Yuli Wambrauw.

The activity was lively witnessed by thousands of Biak residents.

"The Wor-Yospan dance parade was organized by the Biak Numfor Regency Government in the context of celebrating three years of thanksgiving for the regent's leadership in running the wheels of government, development, and service to the community," said Regent Herry Ario Naap.

He hopes that through the Wor-Yospan dance cultural parade, the community can maintain the original Papuan culture.

"The Wor-Yospan dance parade is also an event to channel the interest and talent of young people and artists in various villages," he said.

Some Biak residents positively welcomed the implementation of the Wor-Yospan dance cultural parade because it aims to preserve the authenticity of the original Papuan culture, especially the Biak Tribe.

"The Wor-Yospan dance parade is an activity held by the local government so residents should welcome it with joy," said Edwin, a Biak resident who witnessed the cultural parade of the Wor-Yospan dance on Jalan Imam Bonjol, Biak City District.

The Wor-Yospan Biak dance parade starts from Jalan Strait-Makassar-Imam Bonjol, and Sisingamangaraja, Cenderawasih Field.

The participants of the dance parade and residents watching from the right and left sides of the road in the area implemented health protocols.
