Bamsoet asks the government to investigate the shooting of domestic workers in Papua

Chairman of the MPR RI Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet) asked the government, especially the TNI and Polri, to investigate the shooting case of an employee of PT Palapa Ring Timur Telematika (PRTT) in West Beoga District, Papua.

In a written statement in Jakarta, Monday, Bamsoet confirmed that the attack was carried out by the Armed Separatist Criminal Group (KKSB).

"The government through the TNI-Polri apparatus must immediately take measured actions against the KKSB, as well as investigate and reveal the incident," Bamsoet hoped.

He asked that the case be brought to the attention of the TNI-Polri officers so that in the future they can provide escort and guard to the workers who are tasked with building or repairing telecommunications networks in the Papua region in order to prevent the recurrence of KKSB attacks.

Eight employees of PT Palapa Ring Timur Telematika who were repairing Telkomsel's base transcelver station (BTS) 3 tower in Kampung Jenggeran, West Beoga District, Papua (2/3) were killed in the attack.

Bamsoet also asked TNI and Polri intelligence to continue to investigate the KKSB in order to reveal its network, in addition to continuing to process and carry out pursuits and sieges of the KKSB which has been very disturbing and has caused fear of acts of terror in the Papuan people.

Bamsoet expressed his deepest concern and condolences for the eight civilian casualties, and strongly condemned the KKSB attacks on civilians in Papua, especially the shooting of the telecommunications network workers.

He also asked for the government's commitment to form an independent team to thoroughly investigate the various types of violence that occurred in Papua, in order to restore a conducive situation while at the same time providing a sense of security for the Papuan people.
