The development of ICT infrastructure in Papua continues



Minister of Communications and Informatics Johnny G Plate ensured that the construction of information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure in Papua would continue following the attack by an armed criminal group (KKB) that killed eight workers on the Palapa Ring project, Wednesday (2/3).

"ICT infrastructure development in Papua is at the point of no return. We will continue to develop ICT in Indonesia, including in Papua," said the Minister of Communication and Information when met in Jakarta, Thursday.

Furthermore, Minister Johnny said his party was also coordinating across ministries and agencies to maintain the safety of workers on duty in Papua.
 
"Coordination across ministries/agencies is certainly carried out. Vertical coordination between the central and regional governments is also certainly carried out, and from time to time it is always adjusted to local situations and conditions," he said.

He also described a number of challenges for telecommunications workers in the 3T (Front, Remote, Disadvantaged) area.

"Besides security challenges, there are many other challenges. Starting from natural challenges, disasters, rain, accidents, floods, landslides, and others. There are challenges that are beyond our control. So, we must have tips to overcome them," said the Minister of Communication and Informatics. .

"However, challenges caused by humans, we must prevent together," he added.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics gave a service award to the families of victims of the attack on PT Tower Palapa Timur Telematics (PT PTT) workers. They were attacked while working on the East Palapa Ring project

The gun attack that occurred on March 2, 2022 at around 03.00 WIT was located at the B3 Repeater Site (CO 53M 756085 9585257) Mulia District, Puncak Regency, Papua Province.

In this humanitarian tragedy, eight victims were Bona Simanulang, Renal Tagase, Bili Gadi Balen, Jamaluddin, Syahrul Nurdiansyah, Eko Satyansah, Bebi Tabuni, and Ibo. There is one survivor of Nelson Sarira.
