The KKB separatist group attacks the Inanwatan Police, South Sorong



A group of about five people suspected of being an independent Papuan separatist group attacked and damaged the Inanwatan Police Station in South Sorong Regency, West Papua on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at around 20.00 WIT in the evening.

The Head of the Inanwatan Police, South Sorong Police, Ipda Yanuar, in a release received Monday, said that the incident began when five people who were initially unknown arrived drunk with alcohol carrying machetes and caused a commotion in Mate Village, Inanwatan District.

Then, said the police chief, there were local residents who came to the police station to report the incident to be followed up by members of the Inanwatan Police.

According to him, the perpetrators of the riots did not accept being reported by the residents concerned to the police. They immediately went to the police station looking for the complainant and carried out an attack and broke the glass and office desk until they were destroyed and could no longer be used.

He stated that seeing the situation was out of control, members of the Inanwatan Police who were on duty immediately secured the reporter then took a gun and fired a warning shot into the air.

The perpetrators, who at that time went on a rampage at the police station, fled the Inanwatan police station immediately.

The police chief said that they were investigating the incident. Of the five attackers, investigators have pocketed the identities of three people.

The identities of the three perpetrators were identified based on information from the community, each with the initials JP, IN, and DB.

The three perpetrators were the perpetrators of raising the Morning Star flag of an independent Papuan separatist group in the Inanwatan District. In addition, they also commit other crimes that are disturbing to the community.

South Sorong Police Chief AKBP Choiruddin Wachid, who gave a separate statement, ordered the Inanwatan Police Chief to carry out an investigation and investigation into the case to completion, so that the act would not be repeated and could provide a deterrent effect for the perpetrators.
