Under the guise of voicing the community, those who reject new autonomous regions have hidden interests
So far, we have heard and read about the response of a number of parties who stated that they rejected the policy of establishing New Autonomous Regions (DOB) for three provinces in Papua. As a critical reader, it must be observed in detail the background, origins, and especially the interests embedded in it.
A number of parties who actively voiced their rejection of the Papua New Guinea policy, in context, were driven by groups that were not in line with the policies of the ruling government and had a long mission of wanting to separate themselves from the motherland.
Stakeholders in Rejection Action
In the event of the April 1, 2022 action in the name of the Papuan People's Petition (PRP) where one of the demands was the rejection of the new autonomous regions and Special Autonomy. Chairman of the Regional II Indigenous Youth Saireri Ali Kabiay stated that the action on behalf of the people was an impure thought and was full of political interests. There are groups of people who have narrow ideals where there are actors behind them who play to disrupt or disrupt the expansion program for both provinces and districts. The actor who accepted the refusal did not want to share his dinner plate or the cake he had found so far to be shared with other community groups, because if the new autonomous region was realized, the portion of cake would be reduced or could be lost.
The aspiration on behalf of the Papuan people conveyed by the Deputy Chairperson of the MRP Yoel Luiz Start related to the rejection of the Papua New Guinea also drew protests from a number of parties. One of them came from MRP member, Dorince Mehue. According to him, Yoel's voice does not absolutely represent the aspirations of the Papuan people. What Yoel talked about was not representative and was not on behalf of the institution and did not go through the mechanism.
In a series of several resistance movements that have taken place over the past few years, the KNPB has proven to be one of the parties that pioneered and provoked the Papuan people to aggressively carry out resistance actions with a number of deconstructive sentences and statements. KNPB spokesman Boven Digoel Yanuarius Murutop stated that the new autonomous region was a new disaster for indigenous Papuans, Deputy Chairman of KNPB Bali Laos Alua stated that expansion was the desire of Jakarta's political elite and several Papuans who lost politics, be it regents, governors, and other officials. Finally, a week before the protest against Yahukimo Papua took place and ended in riots, the Chairman of KNPB Yahukimo Jhon Suhun also stated that the expansion of the new autonomous regions was only to open the wings of the Indonesian military and kill Papuans.
Meanwhile, the action against Otsus and DOB held by a number of Papuan students was also contradictory between the demands and the existing conditions. Whereas basically the Otsus policy has guaranteed the rights of the Papuan Indigenous People (OAP), including in terms of education and the existence of the expansion policy is an effort to improve the welfare of the Papuan people. There is an alarming fact that the students who are members of the Papuan Student Alliance (AMP) were actually instigated by the same party as the protests against DOB in Wamena and Jayapura. Follow-up demonstrations in three places in the near future have been coordinated by the KNPB separatist group. The threat of the KNPB wanting to make a bigger fuss, it turns out that through the mobilization of unscrupulous students and unscrupulous citizens, the ultimate goal is to cover up elite corruption through the Free Papua conflict.
Another fact that was also discovered was that AMP was a puppet formed by the KNPB. It's a shame, instead of defending the interests of the people, unscrupulous students have become puppets of the KNPB agenda, which clearly wants to cover up the corruption of the Papuan elite for 21 years with the agenda of an independent Papua. Previously, the Ministry of Finance discovered that there was misappropriation of Special Autonomy funds of Rp. 1.85 trillion which were deposited in personal names, of which Rp. 556 billion was used without clear data. The money should be used for people to go to school, free health facilities, and other developments. But unfortunately, unscrupulous students actually defend the interests of a handful of parties who have robbed the people of their rights.
It is time for the KNPB separatists to stop fooling the people under the pretext of rejecting Otsus and Pemekaran just to cover up elite corruption for 21 years, especially through the issue of the shadow of a Free Papua. It's not the time anymore.
Expansion is not something to be rejected or fussed over
Strictly speaking, the pros and cons of the regional expansion policy in Papua received a response from the Regent of Mimika Regency, Eltinus Omaleng. According to him, the policy on the division of the province must be handled wisely so as not to cause turmoil, and remind the whole community not to be influenced by issues or provocation actions carried out by certain elements who deliberately take advantage of the issue of new autonomous regions to hold actions that can disrupt the community security and social order.
The survey proves that 92% of Papuans need expansion. Many Papuan people support the expansion because they are believed to improve people's welfare. With the expansion, new cities are built, hospitals are established, schools and other public facilities will also be established. In fact, with the expansion, many regions will receive development money directly without waiting for a central decision. With this money, people can use it for development and improve welfare.
In the end, Papua is a vast territory with different cultures and customary areas, so that no single group can represent another group on behalf of the Papuan people. The government has provided the best way for regional expansion so that the Papuan people feel the distribution of prosperity and justice. Make the most of it..
