Proof of Special Autonomy Claimed by Regent Mathius is in KMAN
Jayapura Regent, Mathius Awoitauw called the 6th event of the Indigenous Peoples of the Archipelago Congress (KMAN) as a means of proving special autonomy (Otsus) in Papua.
Regent Mathius said KMAN on October 24-29 2022 will be part of Otsus based on customs and culture.
According to him, nationally, there are rights regarding indigenous peoples but in Papua it is strengthened by the law.
"This congress is a kind of performance, or to sharpen the special culture of Papua and West Papua, related to Otsus," said Regent Mathius at the Regent's Office, Gunung Merah, Sentani, Friday (27/5/2022).
It is said, the media has an important role to provide information, so that people are not misguided.
"KMAN is even bigger because it involves state policy, namely Otsus," he said.
To support this, his party will prepare indigenous community leaders to provide information to the public through the media.
"We will determine who will talk later. Before being appointed, we can ask for time from traditional leaders from Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and others, even though the hybrid event can be presented well," he said.
According to him, the development approach in Papua must start and be supported also through culture.
In addition, at the implementation of the 6th KMAN, the nine years of the revival of indigenous peoples were also commemorated.
