Kasuari Military Command is ready to help the government in eradicating illiteracy



Commander of Kodam XVIII/Kasuari Maj. Gen. Gabriel Lema stated that TNI soldiers at the Kasuari Kodam are ready to assist the government in efforts to eradicate illiteracy throughout the region, to remote areas of West Papua Province.
 
The Military Commander said that in addition to carrying out their main duties as patriots who defend the people, TNI soldiers will also serve to educate the nation's generation from the shackles of illiteracy, in their respective assignment territories.
 
"Alleviation of illiteracy is our collective duty and commitment to ensure that the life of the nation and state remains good, from now onwards," said TNI Major General Gabriel Lema at an illiteracy declaration event, on Bakaro Beach, East Manokwari District, Manokwari, West Papua. , Tuesday.
 
The Military Commander said that West Papua as an integral part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia must be free from illiteracy, so it takes a joint commitment from all parties to find a common solution in alleviating illiteracy, starting from early childhood.
 
He also invited community organizations (ormas) in the fields of education, women and children to indigenous peoples' institutions (LMA) in West Papua to be able to insert an illiteracy eradication program through the introduction of basic literacy to early childhood children, according to the local wisdom of each region.
 
"We need to encourage the involvement of all parties in supporting the illiteracy eradication program at a time when the state and government have limited capabilities in reaching and serving the community, especially in education services," said the Pangdam.
 
Furthermore, to answer the challenge of eradicating illiteracy in West Papua Province, he said, all babinsa and soldiers involved as teachers, both in the Kodim and task forces who are currently on duty in the West Papua region, are equipped with methods for teaching children.
 
"After the debriefing, the babinsa and soldiers who are selected as teachers will impart their knowledge to the children in their respective areas of duty, including teaching Sunday schools at the Church later," said Pangdam Kasuari.
