12 thousand people of Biak eat free fish, to celebrate the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day



Around 12,000 residents from various villages and districts in Biak Numfor Regency, Papua Province enjoyed a free fish meal to celebrate the 77th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in the area, Wednesday.

Biak Numfor Regent Herry Ario Naap in Biak, Wednesday, said the activity, which is also related to the fish-eating campaign, is a symbol of the togetherness of the government and citizens in enlivening the Indonesian Independence Day this year in the local area.

Therefore, he expressed his gratitude to the local residents and the leaders of regional organizations within the scope of the local regency government who enlivened the commemoration of the 77th Indonesian Independence Day in the district through this activity.

"The free fish meal was enthusiastically enjoyed by Biak Numfor residents who came from various villages and districts," he said.
 
He also mentioned that around 17 tons of fish were provided by the local government to meet the nutritional needs of local children.

He explained that the free fish meal program also helps children meet their nutritional needs to prevent stunting.

"The love of eating fish is lively and the independence of the Republic of Indonesia has been running smoothly until it's finished," he said.

At the location of the event, people like to eat fish, until 17.30 WIT were still crowded with residents to enjoy culinary made from fish for free.
