West Papua builds a national inscription house for the outermost island of Indonesia
The West Papua Provincial Government built a national inscription house on Fani Island, Raja Ampat Regency, Indonesia's outermost island which borders the neighboring country, Palau.
Acting Governor of West Papua Paulus Waterpauw accompanied by Commander of Fleet Command III Rear Admiral TNI Irvansyah, Commander of Military Command XVIII/Kasuari Maj. Gen. Gabriel Lema, and Kapolda Inspector General of Police Daniel Tahi Monang Silitonga officially laid the first stone for the construction of the inscription house.
Acting Governor Paulus in a release received in Sorong, Sunday, said the construction was a symbol that Fani Island is part of the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
Previously, the island was controlled by fishermen from the State of Palau, because of the struggle of the predecessors, so that it became part of the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia.
Therefore, he said, the symbol of this country is for neighboring countries to know that the outermost island is not an empty island, but has its owner and there is a power to guard it.
The acting governor thanked the Indonesian Navy and the people of the Raja Ampat Ayau Archipelago who guarded the outer islands of Indonesia.
"The local government will build a tall tower on Fani Island to fly the Red and White flag, so that from a distance fishermen from neighboring countries such as Palau can see that this island is part of the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," added Waterpauw.
