The Jayawijaya Regency Government distributes merchandise assistance to MSME actors

The Jayawijaya Regency Government, Papua Mountains Province, has distributed a number of merchandise assistance to dozens of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) scattered in the suburbs of this district.

Head of Cooperatives and MSMEs at the Jayawijaya One Stop Service Office (KPTSP), Suhada Idris in Wamena, Saturday, said the assistance was part of the motivation for the community to be enthusiastic about developing their business.

"Assistance consisting of rice, flour, cooking oil, salt, instant noodles and several other commodities was given to around 50 MSMEs, it has been carried out," he said.

Suhada ensured that assistance was only given to residents who already had a business, or that meant it was not given to residents who were just planning to open a business.

From the results of a field survey, according to him, the people who own these kiosks are constrained by capital because commodity prices in Jayawijaya are still relatively high. "So there is someone who has a kiosk but around two percent of his merchandise is what we add to his merchandise. On the condition that he has to sell it at an inexpensive price," he said.

He admits that the amount of assistance distributed may not be much, but it must be divided equally so that other entrepreneurs can also feel the touch of the government. "Almost scattered in all districts, except in Trikora District, which is far away because access is difficult, so it must be carefully planned," he said.

Through the 2022 budget, they are helping again with honey pressing equipment to several honey bee cultivation groups which are under the guidance of the government.

The government hopes that with the support of this equipment, the amount of honey production will increase compared to before.

"The six honey managers who previously did not have machines that we are assisting this year. In addition to the squeezing machines, we also provide labels and bottles for the contents of honey produced by the community," he said.
